ASDA’s aim to inspire school pupils in Ipswich to become ‘plastic investigators’

ASDA is encouraging local primary school students to become ‘plastic investiators’ to help fight plastic waste.

In collaboration with the National Schools Partnership, pupils are being invited to take part in a series of activities educating them on plastic use and recycling.

This activity is part of ASDA’s commitment to use less and recycle more.

The supermarket announced in March, they had removed 6.500 tonnes of plastic packaging from its own brand products in the last 12 months, with plans to make all of their packaging 100% recyclable by 2025.

Community Champion at ASDA Ipswich stated: “As well as using less plastic and recycling more, we want to help our communities to do the same.”

Teaching materials, endorsed by WRAP – a world leading resource efficiency organisation, have provided facts about plastic activities and competitions.

David Moon, Head of Business Collaboration at WRAP commented: “Education plays a critical role in providing citizens with confidence and ability to recycle more materials, more effectively.”

“WRAP welcomes ASDA’s activities to inspire local communities and future generations.”
