Colchester Oscar Awards

Colchester Sixth Form held their own Oscar awards ceremony on May 7th to congratulate their Performing Arts students.


The department recognised many of the student’s commitment and success within their academic studies, practical and extracurricular activities.


Ex-student and guest speaker, Kaia Goodenough, graduated from London Studio Centre in 2016 and currently holds the title of the first ever Associate Junior Artist at Dance East, with her own company ‘Kaia Goodenough Dance’.


Each subject area nominated students, awarding them for their commitment.


Second year Drama, Music and Performing Arts student, Alex Terry, was awarded for his ‘exceptional commitment to the whole department’ through his involvement in extracurricular activities.

Grace McBurney, Dion Duke and Andrew Carrington-Moule also received recognition for their contributions to the department.


Alison Gaukroger, head of department stated: “It was a very positive and well attended event and a lovely way to celebrate the many achievements of our students.”


As a result of the student’s hard work, many have secured university places to further their success.

Best Performance for Music – Millie Watson

Above and Beyond in Dance – Rebecca Mahoney

Drama & Theatre performance award – Adam Dunston
