NHS TARGET PRESSURES

The BBC news headlines covering the story of NHS signalling the end of the four-hour A&E target depicts the issue regarding the waiting time targets and how certain targets have been misleading or just simply incorrect.

In this particular release I liked how each paragraph was short and sweet. BBC tends to do this will their stories which I think adds simplicity to the report. It contains short statements of fact which gives the reader easy access to the information without having to digest too much at once.

The report includes a stock image of a hospital environment which adds depth to the publication. In addition, it includes a graph depicting a proportion of A&E targets in July 2015 and the impact these results had in terms of motivation, this was a good addition to the report as it gives the reader a clear indication of the NHS’s performance.

The BBC could have definitely pushed this story much further in my opinion, they could have obtained either primary or secondary quotes from people that this issue has involved such as people that have waited 4+ hours, employees in the A&E department and perhaps the board of governors in a specific postcode area, this would have given evidence to the information in the report.
