As soon as I arrived at EADT and I was introduced, I was given the task of researching any upcoming newsworthy events that might be worth attending and reporting on.

Soon after that, I went across to WH Smith’s to meet a photographer, filming a group of primary school children choosing a book as a reward for completing a challenge the school set. I was able to take pictures, video the children and run the Ipswich Star Instagram page.

When I returned I wrote up the interviews carried out and added any pictures and videos that I had taken.

I was then asked to look at a few press releases, and carry out my first phone interview which is now on my website.

The EADT have a TV screen which shows which stories of the day have had the most amount of views. It was interesting to see as it indicates the best times to post an article to optimise its coverage.

Three stories I wrote were later published on the EADT website and the Ipswich Star.

Overall my first day was enjoyable. I was slightly overwhelmed when going alone to WH Smith and then conducting the telephone interview but I think I handled each situation well.
